Advancing Knowledge, Informing Policy, Strengthening Pakistan-China Partnership
The Centre of Excellence for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a policy research organization and think tank functioning under the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. Executed by the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), the Centre was officially established in January 2016 following the approval of its PC-I. Its main goal is to provide reliable research, strengthen institutional capacity, and offer helpful guidance to policymakers on CPEC projects.
The Centre was created to ensure that CPEC delivers strong development results through careful study, solid planning, and close collaboration between the government, universities, and industries. As CPEC moves into its next phase, the Centre is expanding its focus to include innovation-driven growth, industrial cooperation, climate resilience, and stronger regional connections.
By building partnerships with national and international organizations and academic institutions, the Centre helps shape useful policies for sustainable and inclusive growth. Through public discussions, expert talks, and sharing knowledge, it continues to play an important role in helping Pakistan and the region gain the long-term economic and strategic benefits of CPEC.
